!
“To be used only with AN-5730-3 transmitters of same manufacturer or ternate.”
“AN-5730-2A, serial number 485866 – Eclipse Pioneer Division.”

Saknar båt i Coronetregistret
Men det må jo have fungeret engang.
Hei Marianne
I believe I have one of these in my 26 Family and it’s working. I have not paid too much attention to it since buying the boat in 2020 but it does work (not too sure if it’s accurate I have not checked it with a reference compass).
I thought it was unique to my boat fitted by a previous owner. Is it true that it was an original option from dealers or the factory?

Hi there!
Thanks a lot for your reply – it’s really great to hear that your compass is actually working. That gives me hope that I might be able to get mine running too, if I can find the right control unit.
To be honest, I don’t know whether this system was originally installed from the factory or added later, but I have a feeling that several Coronet boats had it. I’ve spoken with someone who has the same setup in a Coronet Explorer.
It appears that the compass was originally used in the cockpits of many US Army Air Force and US Navy aircraft during WWII, especially different types of bombers. Quite fascinating that it somehow also ended up in several of our Coronet boats.
By the way, during my summer holiday I met a man in a harbour who had worked 15 years at Botved from 1971, building Coronet hulls. He was fascinated that I still had several original instruments in my dashboard. I’m not sure if he specifically noticed the compass or if it just blended in well with the rest.
Hey! Thank you for the reply and the details. As you say pretty incredible that our boats have this WWII technology in them, which was quite sophisticated at the time for a pleasure boat. I will be at my boat again in a couple of weeks and will take some pics of the receiver (compass unit) and the transmitter (gyro unit) together with some manufacturer details and model numbers. Might be some help for you.
